Who we are

Two decades of social science in practice.

Alternet Company Ltd was founded in 2001 by a group of professionals qualified in social sciences. Operating under the brand Alternet Research & Consulting, the firm has made sociological surveys its core activity — conducting studies and social impact assessments on behalf of public, private and international organisations.

Our clients have included leading commercial corporations, a major media house, and international organisations such as UN-Habitat and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). Real estate developers have entrusted us with Social Impact Assessments for projects under the Integrated Resort Scheme, now the Property Development Scheme — from luxury residences to a 360-hectare smart city. Our mandates have ranged from the UN-Habitat Mauritius National Urban Profile to the gender component of AFD’s SUNREF green credit line. The firm also provides events consulting: through Gaëtan Abel and Lindsay Morvan, Alternet contributed to the organisation of the Festival International Kréol from 2017 to 2023.
